Alice in Chains are the heaviest of all the iconic grunge bands, so it's no wonder that they toured with metal bands like Pantera and Slayer in the early Nineties, and became a metalhead favorite. Slayer guitarist Kerry King had the opportunity to gig with them on the iconic Clash of the Titans tour (alongside Megadeth and Anthrax) in 1991, establishing his life-long fandom.

In celebration of Alice in Chains' sophomore album, Dirt, turning 30 last month, King revealed to Metal Hammer what his favorite song in the band's entire catalog remains. Naturally, it's a heavy one: Dirt's fiery opening salvo, "Them Bones." See what he had to say about it below.

"Them Bones"

"Them Bones" is such a great song. Super-short, heavy, great video and these really haunting vocal melodies. Those dudes were untouchable on their first two records, they were really vibing as a band and Layne [Staley] was just a superstar.

They played on the Clash of the Titans, and on the first couple of dates we'd be backstage going, "Who is that with that fucking voice?" And we started going out to watch the entire set every night. It was just one of those moments.
