This week was already looking to be a momentous one for Iowa's leading metal maniacs, with the band scheduled to play Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Friday, May 17th, but now Slipknot look to be teasing something big for the day before, possibly the reveal of the group's new masks. The band shared a cryptic one-minute video, which can be seen on Slipknot's official website, as well as their Twitter and Instagram accounts, flashing brief glimpses of what appear to be the members' new masks intercut with footage of the group from years past. The Slipknot site also features a counter that begins quickly counting up until it stops on the number "0516," i.e. the date of this Thursday, May 16th, suggesting that more information — and possibly even the big reveal of the band members' new masks — will come on that day. Singer Corey Taylor has, of course, been working with special effects master Tom Savini on his new look, while percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan has said his wife "doesn't like the new masks — I'll just let the whole world know that. She's not feeling it at all." The whole world should get the chance to come up with its own opinion soon. See the teaser clip below.
