Slipknot have amped up their presence over the last few months, starting with the surprise release of the "All Out Life" single and video on Halloween. Now singer Corey Taylor is revealing even more on Instagram with a post teasing the new mask he'll be wearing on the band's upcoming tour dates in support of their next album, due in 2019.
Taylor's post includes the caption "Soon..." and the hashtags #wanyk, #newface, and #2019, further confirming the band's upcoming album and aesthetic transformation surrounding it. The photo itself is mysterious and shows what appears to be a work-in-progress shot of a new mask.
Taylor confirmed on Twitter the band will enter the studio in January to record, with an approximate release date of the "middle of 2019." He spoke to Metal Mania Radio (via Blabbermouth) in 2014 about Slipknot's visual evolution: "With every album, some of us have evolved our masks more dramatically than others, but there's always a difference, they've always changed a little bit ... This band evolves with every album, and it just makes sense that our masks ... because we're not the same people. It's not something that we sit down and we talk about as a group, we just kind of do it."
