Corey Taylor offered a hard dose of reality about the upcoming Pantera shows. In an interview with Metal Hammer, the Slipknot frontman was talking about his impression of the newly re-formed band's first concerts in over 20 years, which will feature core members Phillip Anselmo and Rex Brown playing with new recruits/old friends Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante.

Taylor was speaking about this iteration of Pantera in comparison to Slipknot, who also lost two founding members, bassist Paul Gray and ex-drummer Joey Jordison, and decided to push forward despite a significant change in their lineup.

"There's no replacing those guys, ever!" Taylor said, referring to Pantera founders Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul. "So, if anyone wants to look at this as not full-blown members, fair enough, but it's not like they just replaced them with Tweedledee and Tweedledum. You're talking about family, and the metal community is a massive family.

"It's not gonna sound like old Pantera, and people need to prepare themselves for that, but with us, Jay [Weinberg, drummer] does not sound like Joey and V-Man [bassist] doesn't sound like Paul. We continue because we need to and we want to.

"What we need to be doing, is being supportive of Phil and Rex, because think about how they're gonna feel the first time they step on a stage without the Abbott brothers to play those songs. I know how it feels! It's a fucking shock to the system, and if we're not supportive, then why are you at the fucking concert?"
