Slipknot's octopus-limbed heavy hitter Jay Weinberg got to meet his future bandmates backstage way back when he was just a little Maggot in a Corey Taylor mask thanks to his famous dad Max Weinberg, of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. Now, with the emergence of a 14-year-old drummer named Maren Alford, who recently destroyed a cover of the band's "Unsainted" (see the incredible clip at the bottom of this post), Jay decided to pay his good fortune forward and invited the young rocker to the 'Knot's Dallas show on Saturday, September 7th.

"Best day EVER hanging out with Jay Weinberg before KNOTFEST in Dallas!" exclaimed young Maren in an enthusiastic Facebook post. "Not only is he a beast behind the kit, but he's also the most encouraging, kind and generous guy! Really a dream come true to meet and spend time with him and the Slipknot show was INCREDIBLE! THANK YOU for everything Jay - you're the BEST!"

When she's not busy nailing covers of her favorite top-tier metal songs, Maren sits behind the kit for Dallas-based pop-rock trio NOT UR GIRLFRENZ, which includes her friends Live and Gigi Haynes, sisters who are 14 and 13 years old, respectively. They just released an EP titled New Kids In America that's available for streaming on Spotify. The group also have a new single and accompanying music video coming out this Friday, September 13th.
