Slipknot's Jay Weinberg Recreates Photos of His Dad Introducing Him to the Band

Dreams do come true. As a kid, Jay Weinberg was a massive Slipknot fan. He discovered the band when the Nine played Late Night With Conan O'Brien, where, of course, his dad — longtime Bruce Springsteen drummer Max Weinberg — was bandleader. Soon thereafter, Max took his Maggot son to see the 'Knot at the PNC Bank Arts Center in their home state of New Jersey, and even introduced young Jay, who was wearing a Corey Taylor mask at the time, to guitarist Jim Root backstage. The moment was photographed for posterity. On August 30th, Jay returned to the PNC Bank Arts Center, this time as Slipknot's drummer playing the Knotfest Roadshow stop there, and he and his dad reunited with Root backstage to recreate the photos of their earlier meeting. "Time is a flat circle," Jay fittingly captioned his Instagram post of the resulting shots juxtaposed with the originals. The drummer also shared a photo of him and his parents onstage in front of the crowd at the show, along with the caption: "What can I say. It was amazing to come home. Thank you, New Jersey. Thank you so fucking much." See the posts below.
