Get those DVRS ready: Gene Hoglan, best known as the drummer for Testament, Dethklok, Death, Galaktikon, Opeth and countless other crushing outfits, has announced a brief stint as percussionist for the 8G Band, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" house ensemble. He'll sit behind the kit from October 2nd – 5th, filling in for longtime drummer Fred Armisen. It's not the first time "Seth Meyers" producers have enlisted someone from the heavy metal world for the 8G band; Slayer's Dave Lombardo, Mastodon's Brann Dailor, Iron Maiden's Nicko McBrain, Anthrax's Charlie Benante, and Stone Sour's Roy Mayorga have also graced the program.

"Words cannot express how elated I am to have been invited to man the throne for the mighty 8G Band on 'Late Night with Seth Meyers' in the first week of October," Hoglan says. "I'm really looking forward to this experience, and it's an honor to be a part of such a fun show. Thank you to all who have helped put this together. You have my esteemed gratitude."

Late Night With Seth Meyers airs weeknights on NBC at 12:35 EST.
