Tool Army, the 13-year wait is about to be over. At the May 5th kickoff of their current tour, the prog-metal pranksters unleashed two new songs — "Invincible" and "Descending" — upon a frenzied crowd at Florida's Welcome to Rockville; last night (May 7th), in Birmingham, Alabama, the band revealed a release date for its forthcoming fifth full-length. The momentous date — August 30th — appeared on video screens during Tool's set, as can be seen in the fan-shot footage below, which includes fittingly shocked, confused and ultimately thrilled commentary from concertgoers: "What is that?!" The group has since shared a follow-up video reiterating the date, which you can also view below.

The announcement makes August a particularly verdant month for heavy-music fans, who are set to receive not only Tool's new LP, but also Slipknot's sixth album, due August 9th. Check out the announcement clips below, as well as the set list from Alabama.
