In 2008, Tool bassist Justin Chancellor launched a new side-project called M.T.void (now stylized as MTvoid) with Piotr "Glaca" Mohamed, frontman of the Polish alt-metal band Sweet Noise. The duo only released one album together, 2013's avant-garde Nothing's Matter, and then remained almost entirely dormant for nearly 10 years. Earlier this month, the band quietly launched a new Instagram page, and today (January 19th) they've used it to announce a brand new album and share some cryptic song clips.

The record is called Matter's Knot and the release date is still under wraps, but fans can hear snippets of the new material that were used in a collaborative NFT project with Armenian sculptor Vahan Bego. Titled Infossilized, the endeavor features six audio-visual clips that range from 50 seconds to upwards of four minutes in length. The videos depict close-up shots of Bego's bizarre creations, while the musical accompaniments are dark, forboding, ambient compositions that sound quite different from the freaky noise-rock of Nothing's Matter — and way different than Tool.

You can absorb (and even bid on) all of the clips here and check out MTvoid's full Instagram post below.
