Underage Metal Guitarist Barred From Venue, Shreds Outside

The show must go on

The only thing worse than showing up to a concert as a fan and being told you're too young to go inside the venue? Showing up to a concert as a musician who's supposed to play and being told you're too young to go inside. That's just what happened to one unlucky underage metal guitarist recently, when his band, Portland deathcore crew Ancient Burials, rolled up to their hometown's Hawthorne Theatre for an August 30th gig and didn't meet the spot's 21+ standards.

Fortunately, another band on the bill, Paradigm Shift, swept in to save the day. They armed our young guitar hero (as well as Ancient Burials' other guitarist) with some wireless gear, and the show managed to go on — both inside and outside the venue.

"So our homeboy in Ancient Burials was a bit too young to play inside, so we hooked him up with some wireless gear," Paradigm Shift explained in a Facebook post. "I think it has to do with Oregon's state laws," bassist Galen VanEeckhoutte speculated in a comment. "In my younger years in Michigan playing gigs they always just marked my hands with an X." Paradigm Shift also shared some awesome video of the Ancient Burials guitarists shreddin, headbanging and attracting a curious crowd outside the Hawthorne Theatre. Check that out below.
