Watch the Armed's Vivid, Surreal Video for New Song "AVERAGE DEATH"

Flame flowers, pastel axes and muscle-bound hunks

Ever captivating and confounding, hardcore collective the Armed are gearing up to release their fourth full-length, ULTRAPOP, on April 16th, and the hype campaign has been something to behold. From striking viral memes to packages sent to music media addressed from Kanye West, the band seems dead-set on mystifying and misdirecting like never before. In February, it all came to a head with 'ALL FUTURES," ULTRAPOP's lead single, the music video for which allegely revealed the long-anonymous group's lineup for the first time.

Enter the Armed's latest single and video, "AVERAGE DEATH," the song a shimmering, haunting piece, the video equally surreal and appealingly strange. Pastel-hued and full of axes, flame flowers and muscle-bound hunks, the colorful visual brings to mind Mathew Barney's mind-bending Cremaster Cycle and reflects the spirit of the album, which the band's Dan Greene describes as "the harshest, most beautiful, most hideous thing we could make." He adds, "We hope this video is equal parts mesmerizing and uncomfortable." Watch and listen above.
