Watch Avenged Sevenfold's Moving "So Far Away" Acoustic Performance

Filmed during band's 2017 set at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles

In October of last year, Avenged Sevenfold hosted a show called "An Evening With Avenged Sevenfold" at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. The band spoke candidly about their careers with LA Times music critic Mikael Wood, and also performed an uncanny, stripped-down acoustic set where they were propped up on stools like they were on The Ed Sullivan Show. It was genuinely bizarre to watch some of the preeminent west coast shredders morph their craft into something closer to, like, R.E.M., but it worked shockingly well, enough to make you consider what it'd be like if Avenged Sevenfold pivoted to being a full-on Seattle grunge outfit.

The band released a digital-only recording of the show called Live at The Grammy Museum last year, and today they just uploaded another taste for free on their YouTube channel with this particularly downcast version of "So Far Away." The video above opens with a few false starts and some nervy warm-up tuning, before the guys settle in to the reworking of the 2010 Nightmare cut.
