Watch Bruce Dickinson Talk Iron Maiden, Fencing, Fame on PBS' 'Charlie Rose'

Singer opens up about new memoir, live album, more

Bruce Dickinson was a guest on a recent episode of PBS talk show Charlie Rose, where he delved into his recently-published memoir What Does This Button Do, as well as Iron Maiden's upcoming live album The Book Of Souls, due out next week. He also discussed his aversion to solo work ("I realized I had no idea how to be creative outside of the framework of Iron Maiden"), his views on stardom ("I never imagined I'd be a rock & roll star, period — I was thinking as far away as maybe a 3,000 seat theater was like, 'Oh my god!'"), his experiences as a world-class fencer, his writing process, touring and much more.

An original interview with Dickinson appears in the new Oct/Nov 2017 issue of Revolver, available now. ""There was an awful lot of stuff stacking up," he said of What Does This Button Do?. "My original manuscript was something like 170,000 words, but we chopped it back to 105,000. I could've probably done another 60 or 70,000 on top of that comfortably had we included all kinds of other stuff in there. But it would've been a pretty unreadable book."
