Watch Deftones Play "My Own Summer (Shove It)" at Small Sacramento Club in 1997

Chino Moreno and Co. deliver wild early live take of 'Around the Fur' cut for hometown crowd

Some choice, rare footage from Deftones' infamous 1997 set at The Press Club in Sacramento has been hitting the internet lately. For the uninitiated, this particular show came after a four-month hiatus from touring, and a month before the release of sophomore album Around the Fur, which made the alt-metal pioneers legitimate superstars. Two weeks ago we highlighted their crushing take on "Be Quiet and Drive," and now we've got our hands on "My Own Summer (Shove It)" — which is reportedly the first time Deftones ever played the song live.

But The Press Club set was, without a doubt, fucking awesome. It is genuinely heartwarming to watch a hometown crowd go nuts and give the boys a hero's welcome. You'll especially enjoy Chino's crowdsurf at the 2:18 mark.

Additionally, footage has surfaced that shows Deftones allegedly soundchecking "My Own Summer" from that same show. Watch that below.
