Watch Demon Hunter's Intimate, Moody New "On My Side" Performance Video

Christian metalcore act drops clip ahead of two-album release 'War' and 'Peace'

After nearly 20 years as a band, Christian metallers Demon Hunter are back with the ambitious undertaking of releasing two full-length albums titled War and Peace on the same day, and now a video for lead single "On My Side" is available just ahead of those records.

Filmed entirely as a performance video but featuring dramatically different lighting and ambiance, the shifting moods throughout mimic the signature vocals of singer Ryan Clark as he shifts seamlessly from controlled melodies to soaring, exultant choruses. Smoke machines and distorted, shaky camera angles layer depth and emotion into the simple but effective setup for a textured visual experience.

Filmed in Seattle by director Andy Maier, Clark says the band aimed to "keep things straightforward with regards to the overall approach." He explains, "Though the video is strictly performance, we did have some fun by filming each setup the same way a number of times using different lighting scenarios in each. This meant performing it the exact same way (hand motions, body positioning) over and over, but ultimately allowed us to toggle between looks while maintaining the same general positioning, which gives a really cool effect in the end."

War and Peace are set for a March 1st release on Solid State records. Pre-orders can be found here and here, and a special edition book featuring both albums in a linen and foil-wrapped cover featuring additional art prints, exclusive liner notes and photos, and a bonus song on each CD is available for pre-order through the band's official store
