Watch Hardcore Upstarts Year of the Knife's "Total Incarceration" Show

Straight-edge crew find "alternative space" to perform after Code Orange tour cancellation

Count among the many bands hit hard by the conoraviris pandemic Delaware's Year of the Knife. The Revolver favorites were all set to join Code Orange on their big headlining tour as part of the finely curated support bill of Show Me the Body, Jesus Piece and Machine Girl. But then as COVID-19 spread, the tour had to be postponed, leaving the straight-edge hardcore crew in the lurch. Like Code Orange — who ended up playing their Underneath record release show to a mostly empty venue and livestreaming it via Twitch — YOTK improvised, teaming with hardcore videographer Hate5six to livestream a special show, dubbed "Total Incarceration," from New Jersey's Landmine Studios tonight, March 20th. During the stream you can pick up exclusive YOTK merch, contribute to their tip jar, and chat with others worldwide.

"Art gives people hope in hopeless times," the band said in a statement ahead of the show. "Alternative spaces must be created where art once traditionally existed. Tune in tonight and show Year of the Knife some love as we all try to develop new ways to interact with and support one another."

Year of the Knife reportedly finished recording their new (and first proper) full-length — the follow-up to last year's Ultimate Aggression, which compiled two previously released EPs plus a new track "Fatal" — in January. The album was recorded with producer and engineer (and Converge guitarist) Kurt Ballou at his GodCity studio in Salem, Massachusetts. No word yet on a release date.
