Watch Ho99o9's Explosive "Black Power Live" Set With Travis Barker

Bad Brains cover plus live debuts of "Christopher Dorner" and "Pray or Prey"

On June 19th, rule-breaking rap-punk duo Ho99o9 unleashed two incendiary new songs, the hardcore rager "Christopher Dorner" and the dreary rap meditation "Pray or Prey." The cuts got their live debuts this past Saturday (June 27th), as part of Black Power Live, a virtual music festival presented by FORM and Jammcard, and streamed on Twitch. The event was hosted by Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors and featured a musical lineup including Miguel, Devonté Hynes (a.k.a. Blood Orange), Doja Cat, Kamasi Washington, Vagabon, Denzel Curry and others. But on the heavy-music side, Ho99o9's three-song set —the aforementioned numbers plus a cover of Bad Brains' "Big Takeover" — was definitely the highlight, eight dynamic minutes of slow-building but ultimately explosive catharsis.

Blink-182 drummer and alternative hip-hop guru Travis Barker joined Ho99o9 for the performance, which the group premiered on YouTube on Sunday. "Keep the fight for justice, ending racism & police brutality moving forward in any way possible, every little thing helps," Ho99o9 wrote in the description. "Thank you to everyone who tuned it, 999."

The Black Power Live event raised funds for Black Lives Matter organizations including Crenshaw Dairy Mart, Trap Heals, Transgender Law Center, Sankofa and Black Men Build.
