Back in September 2020, Lacuna Coil performed their latest album, 2019's Black Anima, in its entirety during a special livestream event. Next month, the Italian metal heroes will release the whole set, titled Live From the Apocalypse, in a variety of digital and physical formats.

They already gave fans a preview with a live video of the rarity "Bad Things," and now the group led by Cristina Scabbia have unleashed a performance of their song "Apocalypse." The album track from Black Anima was written and released well before the COVID-19 crisis began, yet feels eerily relatable to the current pandemic predicament.

"'Looking at the sand gliding down through the hourglass,'" Scabbia said, quoting one of the song's lyrics. "'Apocalypse' is factual and actual in today's pandemic, though we couldn't foresee this when we wrote it: the separation, the solitude, the confusion, the resilience. We keep on fighting for our will to survive."

Co-vocalist Andrea Ferro added, "Apocalypse is usually a huge concept involving destruction or damage and the way the world ends. In our vision, there's no big apocalypse, just endless little ones. Ignorance, complacency, selfishness alone can bring apocalypse."

Watch the band play the solemn tune above via YouTube. Live From the Apocalypse is due out June 25th via Century Media, and our "transparent orange" vinyl edition — which includes a bonus DVD featuring the footage of the original show — is available in our shop.
