Watch Metallica Play "Enter Sandman" on Colbert Super Bowl Special

Metal's biggest band delivered big hit on late night

We all know that it's long overdue for Metallica to play the Super Bowl halftime show. But since the NFL appears to be rock-averse, instead we got the Weeknd doing Slipknot cosplay at this year's big, if penalty-marred and extremely boring, game. This didn't stop Metallica from making their presence known Sunday night — with the help of Stephen Colbert. The comedian invited the thrash OGs onto The Late Show With Stephen Colbert following the Buccaneer's demolition of the Chiefs, and James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo and Lars Ulrich did all they could to demolish TV screens everywhere, playing their 1991 classic "Enter Sandman." As an extra treat to diehards, the band's set featured an assortment of speaker cabinets from over the years in the background. Watch above.
