Revolver has teamed with Rise Against for a limited-edition picture disc of their forthcoming new record, Nowhere Generation. Quantities are extremely limited — so order now before they're gone!
Next month, the politically charged punk institution Rise Against will release their new album, Nowhere Generation, on their new label, Loma Vista Recordings. The band have already shared its title-track and "Broken Dreams, Inc." as singles, and now the Chicago quartet have unleashed the record's opening protest anthem, "The Numbers."
The fiery track comes paired with a video that features a compilation of anti-capitalist cartoons, quotes and footage of protests from all over the world, including recent Black Lives Matter rallies in the United States. It's an inspiring visual aid to a song that champions solidarity among workers and revolutionary action against the increased consolidation of corporate power and state abuse. "They have the power/We have the numbers now," frontman Tim McIlrath shouts convincingly during the hook. Watch and listen above via YouTube.
Although the video is directly in line with the topics Rise Against have been singing about for over two decades, the visual was actually created and directed by the American collective of artist-activists, Indecline — an organization that's dedicated to taking on social, ecological and economic injustices. Naturally, they were the perfect creative partners for Rise Against.
"Beyond simply showcasing global protest movements," Indecline said in a statement, "this video is to serve as a reminder that we are all living in a golden age of resistance and need to use our privileges to commit ourselves to wholeheartedly pulling the rope in the opposite direction. Or, to put it more bluntly, don't be like your parents' generation. Give a fuck and prove it."
