Watch Shoegaze Band Grivo's Trippy Shapeshifting New "HDC" Video

Austin band's heavy, entrancing song from 'Elude' LP receives equally mesmerizing visual

Leaning into the heavier end of the shoegaze spectrum, Austin's Grivo take inspiration from the dark, drug-induced beauty that lies just beneath the brutality. Their latest entry is the video for "HDC," which musically plays out like the middle child between Slowdive and Low, a half-paced emotional look behind the curtain and into the great beyond.

The video — courtesy of director drip//cuts— is an exercise in odd textures, shifting and rearranging to reveal facial shapes, soundwaves and structures like a last-ditch communique from a distant station afar, fading away day by day. Check it out above for the first time and pick up the record, Elude, out now via Holodeck. Grivo will play 11/23 at Hotel Vegas in Austin, Texas.
