One of the greatest VHS tapes of all time is the Combat Tour Live: The Ultimate Revenge, detailing Venom, Slayer and Exodus all on the same stage in New York City on April 3, 1985. The video catches the three bands at a crucial moment in their career: Venom was about to release Possessed, Slayer's Hell Awaits had blasted off the night before and Exodus' Bonded by Blood was about to see the light of day.
The hour-plus long program cuts in footage from all three bands from Manhattan's notorious Studio 54, and features four songs from Slayer and Exodus, as well as two from Venom. Throughout the entirety of the video, you see Slayer at their young and earnest best, Paul Baloff living up to Exodus' praises as a fantastic vocalist and frontman and Venom's Cronos being every bit as over-the-top as those ridiculous Thurston Moore-relased seven-inches would suggest. Memorable, fun and totally ripping.
