If you enjoyed the sleek, neon horror of Slipknot's music video for "Nero Forte," released in December, you're in for a treat: The Nine's newest endeavor, "Pollution," is a 20-minute visual extravaganza stuffed with surreal imagery snatched straight from an LCD-laced nightmare that expands and explodes that previous clip.
The eye-catching feast begins on a screen titled "The End," running backwards through a pastiche of moving pictures that further the aesthetic themes tying together the promotional imagery around the band's latest LP, We Are Not Your Kind. Cells splitting, unidentified fuzzy screens, and an army of marching-band snare drummer clothed in custom jumpsuits playing light-up drums lead in the action, all converging on the "Nero Forte" video inserted right after the eight-minute mark.
As with all the band's recent video work, percussionist and co-founder M. Shawn "Clown" Crahan directed Slipknot's latest. "I set out to make a short film that makes you question your own existence, here in this reality," he said of the captivating film. "When you lay down in your bed, next to the one you love, do you ever ask yourself — is it possible that this person could slit my throat while I'm sleeping? Enjoy. Pollution is everywhere."
Next up for Iowa's favorite metal fiends is a European tour that kicks off tonight (January 14th) in Dublin, Ireland, and continues through March when they'll cross the globe to play locales in the Philippines, Japan, Indonesia, and more. See the group's confirmed itinerary below.
