Watch Solstafir's Grim New "Silfur-Refur" Music Video

What happens when you try to escape the reaper?
Iceland's Sólstafir recently released their new album, Berdreyminn, via Season of Mist. Today, the band has teamed up with Revolver to premiere their new music video for "Silfur-Refur." Check it out below.

Accompanying a song layered with cascading riffs and haunting organs, the clip offers existential visuals that personify the desire to escape death and remain eternally youthful. A child shrouded in a black cloak tries to outrun the reaper while he carries the death dealer's own hatchet through vast woodlands in an attempt to cheat fate. Watch until the end to find out if he successfully evades the reaper or succumbs to death's inevitability.

Guitarist-vocalist Aðalbjörn Tryggvason comments, "Videos have always been a medium that we have taken seriously. Therefore, we have worked with excellent visual artists like Bowen Staines and Vesa Ranta on previous clips. We are privileged to have been able to enlist the team of Nico Poalillo and Peter Beste to create the imagery for 'Silfur-Refur.' They have created a video that beautifully illustrates the song — at least in our minds. We are thanking Nico and Peter for their amazing contribution to our musical vision. Its meaning is a puzzle, which we leave for you to solve as we don't want to spoil your imagination spinning stories of your own. We hope that you enjoy 'Silfur-Refur' as much as we do."
