Spiritbox season is upon us. Following a handful of excellent 2020 songs, the Vancouver-based band has returned with a new single called "Circle With Me." The trio — made up of former Iwrestledabearonce singer Courtney LaPlante and guitarist Mike Stringer as well as bassist Bill Crook — specialize in a unique and highly popular brand of swooning alt-metal with elegant vocals and thunderous djent grooves, and this new song is another great addition to their catalog.
Along with dropping the single on streaming platforms, the band also released a mesmerizing music video for "Circle With Me" that captures them performing while the camera circles (see what they did there?) the recording space. Watch it above via YouTube.
"This song was written in the studio as a last minute addition, one of the many reasons we are so grateful to no longer be exclusively working remotely," LaPlante said in a statement. "It captures the spectrum of emotions I've been feeling lately about my music. From the anxiety I feel about messing up, to a confidence meant to protect me from self doubt."
"Visually, we wanted to present the viewer with the image of us that we miss the most," she continued. "Us performing on stage with nothing to hide behind: instruments, some lights, and beautiful camera movement."
In addition to this new tune, LaPlante recently made a special appearance in the latest issue of our magazine, in which she spoke with Evanescence's Amy Lee about some of the themes she touched on in this song.
