Watch Trivium's Matt Heafy Perform Touching Cannibal Corpse Acoustic Cover

Guitarist-singer reworks death-metal classic "Hammer Smashed Face" for his livestream cover series on Twitch

Trivium singer and guitarist Matt Heafy has taken to streaming platform Twitch for the past few weeks, covering pop culture staples from NSYNC's Nineties pop jam "Tearin' Up My Heart" to traditional broadside ballad "House of the Rising Sun." Heafy decided to stay a little more in his lane with a lounged-up version of Cannibal Corpse's "Hammer Smashed Face."

Something about hearing lyrics like Lifeless body, slouching dead / Lecherous abcess, where you once had a head sung beautifully by the multi-faceted musician is more charming than one might first expect, but he really pulls it off. Heafy's soaring vocal abilities are obvious to anyone who's heard his clean vocal work on Trivium's most recent release release, 2017's The Sin and the Sentence, and the stripped-down atmosphere on his recent video shares only solidify his true artistic range. Follow his official Twitch channel for more.
