Watch 'The Voice' Contestant Savanna Woods Cover Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun"

A powerful rendition of the grunge classic

Soundgarden's late great frontman Chris Cornell was a man who liked a cover song— so much that his estate was able to compile a posthumous covers album last year that still barely scratched the surface of his vast catalog of recorded tributes. Therefore, Cornell would probably be happy to know that people are still covering his beloved hits to this day, and he might even like the rendition of "Black Hole Sun" that Savanna Woods banged out on last night's episode of The Voice

The contestant on the NBC competition show made the judges' jaws drop when she delivered an octave-ascending take on the 1994 tune. No one can possibly replicate Cornell's signature, gravelly croon, so Woods made the right decision by giving the iconic grunge song her own soulful flair. It's an undeniably impressive performance, and honestly it rocks pretty hard. Watch it above via YouTube.
