Late yesterday evening Tool singer Maynard James Keenan issued the following statement via the band's Facebook page regarding the status to the band's highly anticipated new album, which will be the follow-up to 2006's 10,000 days.

"I've been making regular trips to LA to check on the writing progress of my Tool brethren. Things are progressing nicely. Slowly, but definitely progressing. Nothing is recorded yet, but the guys are confident that the pieces are coming together swimmingly and will be ready for me to begin writing melodies and content 'soon'. I'm as anxious to get this album completed as everyone else. But as history will show, you can't rush these gents. Patience is Gold in this Sound Mine. In the meantime, as always, other things are simultaneously occurring. Life is too short not to create something with every breath we draw."

We'll keep ya updated as we hear more. In the meantime, hopefully this latest statement from the band will generate a whole new batch of EPIC TOOL MEMES.

Guitarist Chris Broderick and drummer Shawn Drover, formerly of Megadeth, have announced their new band, Act of Defiance. The lineup consists of Broderick, Drover, ex-Scar the Martyr vocalist Henry Derek, and bassist Matt Bachand.

Broderick said, "I am so excited to finally be able to announce Act of Defiance to the world. Shawn just finished tracking drums the first week of February and his performance and tones are simply incredible. I have started tracking rhythms and leads, as well as working with Henry to get final vocal takes while Matt will record bass at his studio. The final mix and mastering will also be handled by Zeuss.

"I am also very honored to announce that we have signed with Metal Blade Records. There is not a better label to be on than one where the employees (and owner) still understand and listen to metal! They have shown a loyalty, backing and drive for their artists that few other labels have. As for our music, I am really enjoying the ability to create what is a killer mix of thrash and modern metal. It has a unique combination ranging from thrash to classical influences. I am very proud of what we have written and hope that you all dig it."

That band have also released a teaser of what's to come. Check out the video below and let us know what you think in the comments!

In a previous interview, Broderick spoke to Sirius XM's Jose Mangin about leaving Megadeth here.

Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe has given a release date for his memoir. 'Dark Days: My Tribulation and Trials' is set to release on July 14 via Da Capo Press.

Da Capo Press has released a short synopsis of the book as well. It says, "In 2010, a nineteen-year-old super-fan rushed the stage during a Lamb of God concert in Prague. To protect himself, singer Randy Blythe pushed the fan away. Unbeknownst to Blythe, the young man hit his head on the floor when he fell and later died from the injury. Blythe was promptly incarcerated on charges carrying a prison term of five to ten years. Thirty-seven days later, he was released on bail to await trial. Although legal experts told him not to return to the Czech Republic to face the charges, Blythe explained that he 'could not run away from this problem while the grieving family of a dead young man searched hopelessly for answers that [he] might help provide.'"

Augusto said, "It's just four friends playing what makes us feel good and I really hope you all enjoy it. Really looking forward to making a full length and seeing everyone on tour soon. The idea for this project came together right after me and Trivium parted ways… All of us in Corrosion were friends already so it just felt right to start it up. I was an Insense fan, so going for a long shot them being all the way in Norway and I wanted to play in a band with them. We talked through emails and made it happen. We just wrote three songs and felt like it was a good introduction and a full length will come eventually. What you hear on this EP is just what we felt at the time and that's what came out and it felt pretty damn good and clicked right away."
