JuciferByScottStewart_1.jpg

Veteran sludge duo Jucifer recently released their eighth studio album, за волгой для нас земли нет, which translates to "Beyond the Volga there is no land."

'The Russian Album," as it is being referred to by those not fluent in the Russian tongue, is a concept record dedicated to the people, events, and geography of Volgograd—more famously known as Stalingrad.

Lifelong history buffs of Russia, nomadic duo Jucifer—Gazelle Amber Valentine and Edgar Livengood—visited and toured Russia for the first time in 2011 and again in 2012.  Though their album plans had been in place before (recording commenced immediately on return from that initial tour), first-hand experience of Russia and Volgograd left an indelible mark on Valentine and Livengood, which can be heard on the new record.

The album is released in a limited-edition 6-panel digipak, and digitally via Nomadic Fortress (Jucifer's own imprint) and Mutants of the Monster—the label run by C.T. Farris of Rwake, and David Hall of Handshake Inc. A vinyl version of the record and North American retail CDs will be unleashed in October 2013.

Check out the song "Winter Is Coming" below and let us know what you think in the comments.

ЛОЖЬ ВО СПАСЕНИЕ  ::  WHITE LIE

THEY COME AS WATER THAT SOAKS THROUGH SILENTLY
A GLEAM AMONG THE BRANCHES
A SUNDERED TREE
WHERE ONCE WAS NARROW
A FLOOD PLAIN SWOLLEN WIDE
WHERE STEALTH AVENGES GREED, THE SLOW RED TIDE
LIES GATHER LIKE FLIES
LIGHT EYES TRAINED ON THEIR PRIZE
WHITE LIES WHERE THE BLOOD DRIES
WHITE LIES GATHER LIKE FLIES
A SYSTEM BROKEN BY MASS INSANITY
A CRAZED RESOLVE FOR TOTAL SUPREMACY
SUCH BLIGHTED WISDOM ROOTED IN SOPHISTRY
FROM HEARTS IN DARKNESS CRIES A BOUNDLESS NEED
LIVES SQUANDERED UNPRIZED
BRIGHT EYES DARKENED INSIDE
WHITE LIES GATHER LIKE FLIES
WHITE LIES WHERE THE BLOOD DRIES

The Land: My winter is coming to steal fingers. Noses. Feet. Lives. As my snow falls it buries the dead.

My citizens, and yours, huddle together in terrible conflict. The milk of war is blood. The meat of war is loss.

For the stomach there is no milk, no meat. Hunger burns like fire, presses like the heaviest stone. You invaders have come to bring siege but the siege is upon you as well.

The shadow of death respects no insignia.

But my people will not fail.

Leigh-Kakaty-of-Pop-Evil_1.png

Leigh Kakaty is the vocalist for Michigan rock act Pop Evil. Formed in 2001, Pop Evil has gone on to sell over a half million singles, with multiple top-charting singles, all while obtaining road-dog status by exclusively living out on the road. Their most recent LP "Onyx" was released last month. Watch the video for their hit single, "Trenches" at the bottom of this post.

Thank you to all our fans and radio supporters!

It seems like just yesterday we were back in Western Michigan hustling to get Pop Evil songs played on our local radio station on the Sunday night locals only show. Now all these years later, rock radio has helped us reach our first No. 1 with our single "Trenches," off our new album, Onyx.

This blog serves as a thank you to rock radio for still believing in independent bands and in the music. It is so refreshing to see the hard work finally starting to pay off. When we first came on the national scene in 2008, it has been a constant grind. The Midwest "blue collar" mentality has been very much a part of the way we have toured and approached radio—full speed ahead. "One city, and one fan at a time." We can make a difference, and rock and roll can change lives.

We couldn't of done any of this without the fans, though. All of you are the proof and have given us strength to fight out of the "Trenches." Thank you to all of you who have been with us during this incredible ride. We can't wait to continue touring and expand our fan base as our next single is suddenly on the horizon.

How we handle adversity and deal with temptation determine the kind of character we have, both as individuals and as a band. This next single we are about to drop deals with these issues head on.We all continue to get better with age and experience. A wise man once said, "When you play, you better deal with the Devil." Along with this new single, we look to release what we believe is our best video yet. This is guaranteed to have both your mind and your eyes running in circles. Right along with the video, we have new artwork that compliments both the song and the video, which can be seen below. Look for the official release date of our second single off Onyx sometime in August!

Biffy Clyro are headlining the Reading and Leeds festivals this summer; stay tuned for more U.S. tour dates.

We are pleased to announce The 6th annual ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL and The Keep A Breast Foundation are coming together July 27 in Chicago to draw the world's attention to the prevention of breast cancer. Keep A Breast will be providing shirts, bracelets, pins and accessories to all bands, sponsors, crew, etc. and ask that everyone wear them in Chicago as KAB films a video to launch to show the world that Metalheads love boobies!

Keep A Breast will be set up both in the Festival area, working with concert goers, and also in the backstage near press, launching a photo-sharing social media initiative on-site and taking video testimonials from bands on how cancer has impacted their lives, or sharing a message of support.

Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival also will be making a donation from the Chicago date to Keep A Breast, to support their prevention and education programs to eradicate breast cancer. As we know, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Out of all cases of breast cancer, one in 233 occur in women 39 and younger. Keep A Breast provides support for young people impacted by cancer and educating our peers about prevention, early detection and helped raise awareness about cancer-causing toxins in our everyday environment.

In 2012, Keep A Breast participated in 256 events including the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival with the goal of educating and speaking to new audience reaching nearly one million young people and educating them on methods of prevention, early detection, and about health risks.

For every $2 spent on KAB's Traveling Education Booth program, Keep A Breast has the opportunity to educate ten more people with life saving information. This year our goal is to raise $100,000 for our Traveling Education Booth to allow us to reach half a million more young people.

The Keep A Breast Foundation is the leading youth-focused, global, nonprofit breast cancer organization. Our mission is to eradicate breast cancer for future generations. We provide support programs for young people impacted by cancer and educate people about prevention, early detection, and cancer-causing toxins in our everyday environment.

The Keep A Breast Foundation is headquartered in the United States as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit. We are supported in fulfilling our mission by international partners Keep A Breast Canada, Keep A Breast Europe, and Keep A Breast Japan.
