Progressive metallers Dream Theater have premiered the official video for, "The Gift of Music." The track comes off their upcoming thirteenth studio album, 'The Astonishing,' which will be released January 29 via Roadrunner.

The double-CD 'The Astonishing' is an ambitious concept album that features orchestration from David Campbell as well as a full, incredibly detailed storyline.

Dream Theater guitarist John Petrucci recently told Rolling Stone: The idea to do a concept album as a band felt right. The last one we did [1999's Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory] was about 15 years ago, and it really felt like we were in a good place to do this. I knew that what needed to happen, first and foremost, is that we had to have a story to base this on, because the idea of basing an album off of a loose concept or something that was sort of arbitrary, that didn't interest me at all. I wanted this not only to be a concept album, but really to write a full show. And to have all the elements in place, the story needs to drive that. We needed to have the storyline, a plot, places, characters, maps — you name it.

"So that started about two and a half years ago; it took about a year for me to get that story done and ready to present to the guys. And I wanted to write from a place that was familiar to me, so I knew that music had to play a role in the story somehow. I'm a huge fan of the sci-fi and fantasy genres, so I had a pretty good idea of where I wanted to go. But it was a matter of really diving into it and working on it, revising and revising again, and working on it every day until I had something solid."

Additionally, Petrucci recently discussed 'The Astonishing' with Revolver: "The new album will be a further progression of the band's creative identity," he said. "Every time that we go into the studio, we always try to make something that's better than the last. Everybody in the band has this kind of attitude where we love doing what we do, we're very lucky to be able to do what we do, and we feel that the best is still to come. That's partially why we self-titled our last album, because it signified a new beginning, and the strength of the belief that we have in the future of the band."

Lacuna Coil's Cristina Scabbia appears on the cover of the next issue of Revolver (our horror-themed 25 Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock), which will hit newsstands on February 9 and is available for purchase online right now! You can view the cover below, which was photographed by Jimmy Hubbard.

Below, you also can read a few excerpted Q&As from the issue's cover story, written by Dan Epstein. In this section, the frontwoman talks about the new album, favorite horror character, the most horrifying thing she's seen on tour, and more!

REVOLVER Tell us about 'Delirium.' Is there a story behind the title?
CRISTINA SCABBIA There's a lot to say about it, and there's a lot of things that we still need to decide, and a lot of things that can change during the process. But overall, it's an album that will be centered on insanity—that was the main inspiration for this album. From simple types of insanity, like being in the same bed with your partner and not talking to each other but having your phone in your hand, or something more serious and specific, like Stockholm Syndrome, where a person loves another person in a crazy way, even if it's the wrong one. We even imagined that the entire record takes place in sort of a hospital or asylum, where different patients are telling us their stories.

The photoshoot for this issue was inspired by 'Suspiria,' the 1977 horror classic by legendary Italian director Dario Argento. Is that your favorite Argento film?
No, actually my favorite one is 'Profondo Rosso.' [Released in 1975, the film was titled Deep Red in the U.S. and the U.K.] That's my favorite. 'Suspiria' is fantastic, visually—the colors, the locations, they're beautiful, they're gorgeous. But there is something about 'Profondo Rosso' that I like more. I think there is more tension there, and it's way scarier. And I love the main actress, because she's crazy [laughs]. It's my favorite horror movie—and it's probably the very first horror movie that I saw, as well.

Do you have a favorite horror character?
I would say Captain Spaulding from House of 1000 Corpses. I fell in love with him! When we toured with Rob Zombie in 2006, I told him that I loved Captain Spaulding so much—he's such a wonderful character, and I loved the actor [Sid Haig] who played him. When we finished the tour, I had to go to Los Angeles for a photoshoot while the other guys were flying back home. And as soon as I got to the hotel in L.A., there was a box waiting for me from Rob—he'd sent me all this Captain Spaulding stuff, including a head-knocker [bobblehead] and a note from Rob thanking us for being on tour with him. It was amazing! And I still have my Captain Spaulding head- knocker and shirts at home!

What's the most horrifying thing you've ever experienced on tour?
Some toilets [laughs]. Sometimes I wonder if I'm even a woman, because I don't know how many women could even keep up with this. Now it's so much better, but years ago it was not even common to have a shower in a venue. I remember this venue in Scotland where we played. It was a small venue, and the only chance to take a shower was to go to a hospitality apartment that the guys of the venue had. It was creepy as hell, and it had the dirtiest bathroom I've ever seen—but I so needed to take a shower, so I did it anyway. And it was horrifying! The tub was completely rusted and so was the wall. I opened the water and the water was rusty too, coming out all reddish. I was like, "Jesus Christ, what am I even doing?"

Occasionally metal musicians try their hand at acting by making cameos in movies. Other times, they're just there to do what they do best. Here are five well known—and not so well known—instances of rockers rockin' out on the silver screen.

1. Cannibal Corpse – 'Ace Ventura: Pet Detective'
Jim Carrey once gushed to Arsenio Hall about his love for bands like Napalm Death, and he requested to have Cannibal Corpse appear in 1994's 'Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.' Specifically, he asked them to play their song "Hammer Smashed Face"—at which point, as shown in this clip, he proceeded to dance a tango.

2. Layne Staley – 'Father Rock'
Late Alice in Chains singer Layne Staley is, for many fans, the quintessential voice of grunge. But as demonstrated in this mid-Eighties TV movie,he could also do a pretty good hair-metal wail. Here he is playing with his pre-Alice band, Sleze.

3. Twisted Sister – 'Pee Wee's Big Adventure'
In which two of 1985's biggest pop culture figures come face to face. The results are, as would be expected, explosive.

4. AC/DC – 'Private Parts'
AC/DC appeared in the climactic scene of Howard Stern's 1997 biopic, performing a celebratory version of "You Shook Me All Night Long" in New York City's Bryant Park as Stern rocks out with his cohorts and fans—before making a quick exit in an NYPD car as his wife goes into labor.

5. Gwar – 'Empire Records'
In this scene from the 1995 comedy, store employee Mark has a pot-induced fantasy about playing onstage with Gwar. Things are going well—until he gets eaten by a green space alien. Then, judging by the look on his face, things are even better.
