As was made evident by the incredible number of tributes in the hours and days following his passing, Lemmy and Motorhead's influence on rock and metal over the course of their 40-year career has been enormous. And there is no Motorhead song that has cast a bigger shadow than 1980's "Ace of Spades — Dave Grohl even got the title tattooed on his arm last week in tribute to the late and great Kilmister.

Below, Revolver has collected five covers of the quintessential Motorhead, performed in the days following Lemmy's passing at the age of 70.

1. Hellyeah

Hellyeah ripped through the Motorhead classic at their New Year's Eve gig at the Bomb Factory in Dallas, as images of Lemmy and Co. scrolled on the video screen behind them.

2. Iron Maiden's Dave Murray
At a New Year's Eve bash in Maui, Iron Maiden guitarist Dave Murray, a NWOBHM peer of Lemmy's, jumped onstage with members of Alice Cooper's band. Cooper introduces the song by proclaiming Lemmy "one of the most beloved guys in our business."

3. Anthrax's Scott Ian with the Paul Green Rock Academy
On December 30, Scott Ian joined members of the Paul Green Rock Academy at a performance in upstate New York. In an open letter posted on RollingStone.com Ian called Lemmy "a modern day pirate."

4. Slash
On New Year's Eve at the House of Blues in Las Vegas, Slash and his band gave a spirited run-through of "Ace of Spades." Singer Myles Kennedy played guitar alongside Slash and rhythm guitarist Frank Sidoris, while Conspirators bassist Todd Kerns took over lead vocals.

5. Widespread Panic
Metal musicians weren't the only ones paying tribute to Lemmy by tackling "Ace of Spades" last week. Jam band Widespread Panic, who have played the song multiple times over the years, performed it onstage in Atlanta, showing just how far and wide Lemmy's influence truly spread.

Says the guitarist, "The video was produced and directed by Jonny Coffin of Coffin Cases. We filmed it in a warehouse right next to Jonny's place. It was swelteringly hot in there that day, but we got through it, and if anything, the heat contributed to the energy in the video.

"The star-shaped stage with all the neon lights is actually Elton John's piano riser," he continues. "It turns out you can rent it. Who knew? Thank you, Elton!"

Metallica-Lemmy-e1451456332322_0.png

Tons of musicians have been paying their respects to Lemmy Kilmister since the Motorhead leader passed away on Dec. 28 at age 70. But in truth the Motorhead tributes have been coming fast and furious for decades, in the form of bands covering Lemmy and Co.'s classic songs. Below are five worth checking out.

1. Metallica as "The Lemmys"
Metallica have performed several Motorhead covers over the years—they collected four of 'em on 1998's 'Garage Inc.'—but they took their love of Lemmy and the lads to a new level at Kilmister's 50th birthday celebration at the Whisky a Go Go in 1995. There, the band appeared onstage as the Lemmys—with all four members in wigs and clothing mimicking the iconic Motorhead frontman—and blasted through the classic "Overkill.".

2. Sepultura – "Orgasmatron"
"Orgasmatron" was always one of Motorhead's gnarliest, most metal-sounding tunes, so it made perfect sense that Sepultura also claimed it as their own. The band covered it on 1991's 'Arise.'

3. Abbath with Bombers
Black metal icon Abbath has always been open about his love for classic hard rock, and he took it to the next level when he formed Bombers, a full-on Motorhead tribute act. Here, Bombers perform two Motorhead tunes, "Bomber" and "Back at the Funny Farm," with Abbath pulling off a spot-on Lemmy impersonation.

4. Ramones - "R.A.M.O.N.E.S."
Lemmy penned this tribute to the New York punk icons for Motorhead's '1916' album, and the Ramones later covered it in awesome fashion. At their last show ever, in 1996, Lemmy even joined them onstage for a spirited run-through of the tune.

5. Bathory – "Ace of Spades"
The black metal legends took on Motorhead's most famous song for 1997's 'A Black Mark Tribute.' Interestingly, they chose to slow it down to almost half the tempo, perhaps a testament to the speed-freak attack of the original.
