Watch Dead Quiet Conduct Hipster Annihilation in "Dear Demon" Video

Vancouver band's cure for trendy DJs includes stoner riffs, druid robes, ‘Altars of Madness,' more

Let's be clear — Dead Quiet are not here to reinvent the wheel. As a matter of fact, many of the influences of the Vancouver-based band seem blatantly obvious whether it's the stoner doom of Trouble or the blues-y Southern swing of Lynyrd Skynyrd. But's not the ingredients in the soup, it's how it all comes together ... and "Dear Demon" feels eons more ripping, soulful and slippery than the legions of bands that also tip the cap to similar names.

"Dear Demon" is the latest video from Dead Quiet and possibly from the looks of it, their revenge fantasy as well. The clip centers around a man-bun'd, d-bag DJ ripped straight from central casting in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, who turns to the "dark side" and realizes his earthly ways were all wrong. Black Sabbath and Morbid Angel, druid robes, a Les Paul and a cat magazine (?) all are credited in his transformation, as well black tees instead of white tanks.

"We wanted to shed some humor on the music industry in terms of DJ culture and how often ridiculous it seems," says singer/guitarist Kevin Keegan of the clip. "Without making any sweeping generalizations, we thought it was funny to point out the disparity between a band and one guy with a laptop. The song itself deals with the notion of over indulgence and what better way to illustrate that but with the temptations of selling out!"
