Last year Mastodon, the metal world's preeminent beer nerds, teamed up with Denmark's Mikkeller Brewing for a blackened imperial stout that the Atlanta hardheads could call their own. (It clocked in at a 12 percent ABV, which we assume is nothing for a man like Troy Sanders.)
This week though Mastodon announced that they are now back on the beer beat with their third collaboration with Mikkeller. It's a kinder, gentler Czech pilsner called "Ancient Kingdom," (which borrows its namesake from the Emperor of Sand track.) Here's drummer Brann Dailor, talking about the flavor profile.
"Couldn't be more excited to be collaborating once again with one of our favorite and internationally revered breweries Mikkeller. Ancient Kingdom is the perfect name for this beautifully brewed Czech Pilsner. We hope to swill a few with you on our European tour this winter, or on the beach this summer!
