After months of speculation and teasing, Meshuggah have announced their new album, Immutable, due for release April 1st via Atomic Fire Records. Following 2016's The Violent Sleep of Reason, the record marks the Swedish extreme-metal band's ninth studio LP of their 35-year career, and we already deemed it one of our most anticipated albums of 2022. The band are being cryptic by not yet revealing a full single or even a track list, but you can hear a clip of a massive breakdown below. Additionally, guitarist Mårten Hagström had the following to say about the record.

"The title fits perfectly for where we are as a band," Hagström said. "We're older now. Most of us are in our fifties now, and we've settled into who we are. Even though we've been experimenting all along, I also think we've been the same since day one. The way we approach things and why we still make new albums, and why we still sound the way we do, it's immutable. Humanity is immutable, too. We commit the same mistakes over and over. And we are immutable. We do what we do, and we don't change."

Physical pre-orders will be available on January 28th and the band promise that a lead single will arrive shortly. Until then, check out the badass cover art below.
