Down: Philip Anselmo, Jimmy Bower Look Back on 'NOLA,' Early Days, Favorite Songs

Last year, Down's unfuckwithable debut LP, NOLA, turned 25, an anniversary that the band didn't get to celebrate properly due to the pandemic, which threw off the sludge supergroup's live plans. However, the band — featuring Pantera's Philip Anselmo, Corrosion of Conformity's Pepper Keenan, Crowbar's Kirk Windstein and Eyehategod's Jimmy Bower — did reunite in 2020 to play a livestream show, dubbed the "Quarter Century Throwdown," an event they followed up this year with July's "NOLA Town Throwdown" virtual concert. Ahead of the group's long-awaited return to in-person performance, at Psycho Las Vegas, Revolver talked to Anselmo and Bower to get a look back at Down's origins, word-of-mouth hype and, of course, the making and legacy of NOLA.
