In May 2007, Celtic Frost were in New York City, touring behind their impressive 2006 comeback record MonotheistRevolver sat down with founding guitarist/vocalist Thomas Gabriel Fischer and bassist Martin Eric Ain to discuss the history of their influential extreme-metal band. In Episode 3 of this four-part series, the musicians describe the challenges they overcame to record their highly influential 1984 debut, Morbid Tales — including contending with Soviet military in East Berlin, completing recording in just six days and being, in Fischer's words, "so poor at the time we couldn't afford guitar picks and strings."
