King Woman do battle with many monsters on Created in the Image of Suffering, their devastating debut album: namely, the specters of depression, desolation, and death. In that regard, the Bay Area doom-metal outfit's dramatic visual for "Deny" is a fine representation of the greater whole. Directed by Kevin Haus, it tells the gut-wrenching story of a Christian preacher struggling to reconcile his faith with his identity — an existential crisis made all the more haunting by bandleader Kristina Esfandiari's intense, fourth-wall-busting glances into the camera.
