On May 18, 2007, MetalKult caught up with bloodsimple at their studios in New York's East Village as the metallic hardcore band was rehearsing some tracks off its upcoming release, Red Harvest.

After shooting the band's rehearsal of "Dark Helmet," MetalKult sat down with bloodsimple for a candid Q&A on their history, sound and Red Harvest. The result of that conversation is captured in the clips below:

On Friday, June 1, 2007, Emperor's Ihsahn and Samoth arrived in the Guitar World/MetalKult offices in New York for an extensive interview on the inner workings of their notorious black metal band

(the result is featured in Guitar World's October issue).

The two guitarists were in town to play B.B. Kings in Times Square—one of only three shows the Norwegian group would play in the States. (Click here to watch a live video of "Curse You All Men!" from that show.)

After a long interview, lesson and photo shoot, Samoth—who caught a sinister head cold on the flight over from Norway—politely excused himself to prepare for the show.

But the surprisingly genial and candid Ihsahn graciously stuck around to talk with MetalKult about a range of topics, including the motivation behind his group's early diabolical image, his feelings on Faust and Samoth's incarcerations and how he managed to avoid trouble in Norway's treacherous Nineties black metal scene.

Check this out. You won't be disappointed.

On Friday, June 1, 2007, Emperor played a killer set at B.B. Kings in Times Square—one of only three shows the Norwegian metal group would play in the States.

MetalKult was there and captured the black metal legends in all their glory. Below is a live video from that show of "Curse You All Men!", the opening track to Emperor's third LP, IX Equilibrium.

In this three part in-the-studio series, MetalKult catches up with High On Fire at Soundhouse Studios in Seattle as they begin work on their new record, Death Is This Communion with producer Jack Endino.

The videos that follow reveal

the inner workings of High On Fire, and include clips of guitarist Matt Pike talking about his history, new bassist Jeff Matz (ex-Zeke) giving a tour of his rig and drummer Dez Kensel's previewing some of his new pummeling rhythms.

And thanks to MetalKult bro Daniel Hague, who braved the wilds of the Pacific Northwest—and High On Fire's pummeling riffs—to capture this killer footage.

On May 14, 2007, MetalKult cornered Nachtmystium founding singer/guitarist Blake Judd and bassist Zion Meagher in a roach-infested basement corridor under BB King's in New York City, where the Chicago black metal crew was preparing to hit the stage during its string of dates in support of Watain.

In the clips below, the pair discuss lineup changes, the key elements of Nachtmystium's dark psychadelic sound and combating unoriginal black metal music.

On May 14, 2007, before the Swedish black metal horde Watain hit the stage at BB King's in New York City, MetalKult sat down with singer/bassist E and drummer H to discuss the finer points of black metal cred, live performance rituals and "total death." Check out the following clip and

The Swedish horde Watain delivered a gruesome set to a rabid crowd at BB King's in New York City on May 14, 2007. MetalKult dug in at 10PM, catching openers Nachtmystium and Angelcorpse, and securing prime viewing positions for when Watain hit the stage around 2AM. In the hour that followed, MetalKult, and the throng of hailing fans, bore witness to Watain's diabolical invocation...and the stench of rotten pig's blood which clung to them like flies.

In the following clip, see Satanic black metallers Watain as they play the title track off their new album, Sworn to the Dark.
