Australian metalcore outfit Northlane have dropped the official music video for their song "Solar," which is taken from their recent release, Mesmer. The clip, which is directed by Jason Eshraghian, can be seen below.

Earlier this year, Northlane quietly released Mesmer, surprising fans everywhere with their secret album. Speaking with Revolver during an exclusive interview about the record and its stealth release, guitarist Josh Smith said, "Whenever you enter an experience with an expectation it can dictate how you feel about it. Just know it's full of twists, turns, surprises and we poured our hearts and souls into the record. It mainly explores the theme of loss. This was unintentional but we experienced it a few times during the writing process and had to talk about it ('Heartmachine,' 'Fade,' 'Veridian,' 'Paragon'). Prior to writing these passages there were a lot of songs written about existential topics like the violent, frivolous nature of humanity ('Savage'), the destruction of the environment ('Solar'), intellectual programming ('Intuition') and the invasion of privacy through electronic surveillance ('Citizen'). Strangely enough though, the songs that were not written about physical loss in a way still conformed to that theme, whether it's exploring a loss of liberty, or attachment with our intrinsic human nature.

"Musically, we wanted to challenge ourselves to write a record that was in parts as heavy as anything we'd done before, with some real juicy riffs but also incorporate a seamless sounding electronic element. More so we wanted to really focus on the vocal approach and really harness the emotion in the voice of the songs, which our producer David Bendeth helped with to an extent far greater than we imagined was possible. He worked us to our breaking point, especially Marcus [Bridge, vocalist]."

Metallica's tenth studio album, Hardwired … to Self-Destruct, has been certified platinum by the RIAA for having sold over a million copies. The commemorative plaques were presented to the band by Blackened Recordings executives at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.

In addition to the news, Metallica have dropped a second official music video for their current single, "Now That We're Dead." Directed by Brett Murray, the live clip was filmed during the band's Mexico City stop on their current Worldwired Tour. The video follows up the original clip, which was directed by Herring & Herring. "Now That We're Dead" can be seen below.

Hardwired … to Self-Destruct was named Revolver's "Album of the Year" in 2016. "It's weird to think that something that we love doing is loved by other people so much," said frontman James Hetfield in an interview for our December 2016 issue. "Because honestly, we're writing these songs for ourselves, and the fact that other people like them still blows me away. And after 35 years, having an impact on people like that… I really appreciate the fact that it's accepted by so many people, especially you guys." Lars Ulrich added, "Listen, 35 years ago when we started out, we didn't know that there would be another 34 years in front of us. I mean, back in the '80s, with Reagan and Brezhnev and the talk of nuclear war, who the fuck knew that the Earth would still be even fucking bouncing around in the universe 35 years later? So the fact that we're still here, and you guys are awesome enough to not only run a magazine, but to say that our record deserves all these accolades, I don't even know where to begin with any of that stuff. So maybe I'd better just leave it there! [Laughs] Thanks for always supporting us, and for supporting everything in metal and hard rock."

Iceland's Sólstafir recently released their new album, Berdreyminn, via Season of Mist. Today, the band has teamed up with Revolver to premiere their new music video for "Silfur-Refur." Check it out below.

Accompanying a song layered with cascading riffs and haunting organs, the clip offers existential visuals that personify the desire to escape death and remain eternally youthful. A child shrouded in a black cloak tries to outrun the reaper while he carries the death dealer's own hatchet through vast woodlands in an attempt to cheat fate. Watch until the end to find out if he successfully evades the reaper or succumbs to death's inevitability.

Guitarist-vocalist Aðalbjörn Tryggvason comments, "Videos have always been a medium that we have taken seriously. Therefore, we have worked with excellent visual artists like Bowen Staines and Vesa Ranta on previous clips. We are privileged to have been able to enlist the team of Nico Poalillo and Peter Beste to create the imagery for 'Silfur-Refur.' They have created a video that beautifully illustrates the song — at least in our minds. We are thanking Nico and Peter for their amazing contribution to our musical vision. Its meaning is a puzzle, which we leave for you to solve as we don't want to spoil your imagination spinning stories of your own. We hope that you enjoy 'Silfur-Refur' as much as we do."

Me And That Man, the gothic folk project from Behemoth frontman Adam "Nergal" Darski and British/Polish musician John Porter, have released the official music video for the song "Magdalene." The track is taken from their debut album, Songs of Love and Death, which is out now. Directed by Zev Deans (Behemoth, Pallbearer), the N.S.F.W. video clip can be seen below.

Speaking of the song and video in an Instagram post, Nergal explained, "Finally we are releasing Me And That Man video for a song 'Magdalene' from Songs of Love and Death album. Some might find it offensive or disturbing so please note that this video is for entertainment purposes ONLY! Yet deep in heart I hope most people will appreciate beauty and artistry of it rather than focusing and pointing out provocative factors.

"A collaboration of a renown Vogue photographer Ryan Michael Kelly, my good friends and uncompromising artists Zev Deans and Dariusz Szermanowicz and talented NYC-based performer Nikki Delmonico. It's a compelling drama, adventurous and... alternative to what the 'book' is trying to tell us. It's an antagonistic story of a popular guru but what matters most to me is the fact it's the love song. Let's say Jesus walked this earth. Let's say he really was a leader of a new founded sect. And as every charismatic leader is surrounded by many gorgeous and submissive women, Jesus was no different. But like every other Casanova one day he falls in love. Let's say her name is … Magdalene. She's resistant to his adorations, so he pulls out the strongest cards to prove his love and devotion for her. He changes water to wine, walks on the water… all this just to convince her. What's the result of his attempts…? Get your popcorn ready, press play, watch and enjoy. Or not."

Memphis May Fire have shared the official music video for the song "That's Just Life," which is taken from their latest album, This Light I Hold. The video, which was directed and edited by Bryson Roatch (Papa Roach, Saint Asonia), can be seen below.

The powerful black and white clip depicts a series of individuals who battle either physical or mental illnesses. Those featured in the video share their struggles and stories with cardboard signs. Towards the end of the clip, they portray a more positive note, smiling while they share messages of hope and perseverance, inspiring others to overcome their struggles as well.

During an interview for our February/March 2017 issue, frontman Matty Mullins explained of the band's writing drive, "We never stop. From the time we drop a record until the next one comes out, we're just grinding. We're constantly writing and working on new material."

This Light I Hold is available now via Rise Records. You can download the album here or order a physical copy at this location.

Beartooth have released the official music video for the song "Sick of Me." The song appears on their latest album, Aggression, which the deluxe edition will be released tomorrow. The clip can be seen below.

Directed by Marc Klasfeld (Twenty One Pilots, Fun., Katy Perry), the "Sick of Me" video is a documentary-style clip that depicts four individuals who overcame serious battles with depression.

Speaking about his own struggles with depression, frontman Caleb Shomo explained, "Depression and anxiety isn't something you just get away from. It's just inside you. For me it's just always in my brain churning. It's about fighting it and overcoming it, you can't run away from it.  You have to deal with it. This song is a big way to help. At least for me, music has been implanted in my body and what I've connected with. When I go on stage everything goes away. If you can choose that you will not let depression and anxiety run your life, you're going to make it. It's your body and your life and your choice."

Klasfeld added, "It's rare that I am able to create a music video that allows other people to get their story across with such a positive message. I really hope it can help anyone afflicted with depression in some way."

In addition to the video launch, Beartooth have launched a special line of "Sick of Me" merchandise. In order to help spread mental health awareness, all proceeds from the shirts will be donated towards the National Alliance On Mental Illness (NAMI), which is "is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness."

Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe will contribute vocals to DevilDriver's forthcoming outlaw country album, Outlaws Till the End. A video clip of Blythe recording vocal tracks for Johnny Cash's "Ghost Riders in the Sky" can be seen below.

Uploaded to Instagram by Anahstasia Fafara, the wife of Devildriver frontman Dez Fafara, the post's caption read, "A special peek for MY followers only! When you heard that DevilDriver is doing Outlaw Country Covers I hope this is what you expected! I have never heard Randy sound so ferocious! His highs are like a banshee escaping Hell! And there's 2 to 3 guests to each song!!! This project is going to be so Sick!! I'm so honored to be apart of this even if it's only to Witness!"

Outlaws Till the End will feature 13 metal versions of songs from country icons such as Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Paycheck, and more. And aside from Blythe, other guests include Glenn Danzig, John 5 (Rob Zombie, ex-Marilyn Manson), Mark Morton (Lamb of God), and more. The LP will be produced by Steve Evetts (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Sepultura, Every Time I Die, etc.) and is tentatively scheduled for an early 2018 release.

During this year's Ozzfest Meets Knotfest, Revolver TV caught up with Fafara. When asked about DevilDriver's plans for the future, he stated, "We're going in the studio to do something real special. Not a new record, per say, but something real cool. We've got something coming. We've got something really special coming. Something no one has done, actually, and that's hard to say, but I'm saying it."

SikTh's new album, The Future in Whose Eyes?, features a guest shot from Periphery frontman Spencer Sotelo on "Cracks of Light." Check out an exclusive interview below of Sotelo and SikTh frontman Mikee Goodman discussing how the collaboration came together and hear a preview clip of the track.

"They're really nice people, everyone on that U.S. tour felt it was the best one they'd been on," says Goodman of his band's summer 2016 trek with Periphery. "I suppose a funny story was when we stopped at a service station in the Arizona desert. The only thing was that when we left and drove away, [drummer] Dan Foord was not with us. We assumed he was in his bunk," he laughs. "But he had actually been left behind at a gas station. He had no phone on him so an hour later, we got emails from our management, saying he had made contact through email. We then drove an hour back and got him."

It was during the tour that Goodman knew he wanted to team up with their fun tourmates for the group's next album. "I especially love Spencer's voice. He's not your usual djent singer and he's very much a spiritual man. He knows his mind well and so we nailed the song really quickly," he says.

The first-ever guest vocalist on a SikTh record, Sotelo says he first heard of the band in his early 20s from an old bandmate. "One of the guys in the band was a huge fan of SikTh and this was way back in the early days. He turned me on to them and ever since and that's what pushed me into the progressive genre and listening to progressive metal. SikTh, to me, have always been at the forefront of the genre."

As for the song, Goodman explains, "Cracks of Light' is a journey in the mind of someone who is dwelling in darkness and negativity. After a while they realize they must try hard to find light and hope to better their journey. As it is not only on the inside but people start to see outwardly what effect this is having. This was based on my own personal experiences with depression and journeys I've had to try and surpass those thick black clouds."

The Future in Whose Eyes?, the British mathcore sextet's first new studio album since 2006, is out on June 2 via Millennium Night. You can pre-order a copy here. For more on SikTh, follow them on Twitter and Facebook.

Stone Sour - Main Pub 2017 - Travis Shinn_2.jpg, Travis Shinn
photograph by Travis Shinn

Stone Sour have shared the official music video for the track "Song #3," which is the second single from their forthcoming album, Hydrograd. The video can be seen below.

In the clip, the band go through a series of costume changes, including a moment where singer Corey Taylor dons a blond mullet, face makeup and ratty clothes. It isn't until the end when the band dress as themselves that they find harmony while performing.

While issuing a studio update for our February/March 2017 issue, Taylor explained of the new album, "People have had it wrong about Stone Sour for a long time. We're not a metal band that plays hard rock stuff—we are a rock band that plays everything. And to me, this is the first Stone Sour album that's really going to prove that point about this band."

"It's hard to explain," he continued. "It's hard rock, but not in the typical hard rock sense. It's heavy and melodic, but not in those typical senses. Anybody who likes the 'Burbank' stuff [on which the band covered classic rock and metal anthems by The Rolling Stones, Bad Brains, Alice in Chains, Iron Maiden, Slayer, and others] is going to love the originals. As eclectic as those covers were, that's kind of where we're at with the music here. But when you listen to the songs as a whole, it all just fits so well together!"

Hydrograd will be released on June 30 via Roadrunner Records. The album can be pre-ordered in various formats at this location.
