Anti-Flag have suddenly announced that they've broken up. In a brief post shared with their fans on Patreon last night (July 19th), the Pittsburgh punk institution — who initially formed in 1988 — announced that they had "disbanded," and have since disabled their website and social media profiles.

"Anti-Flag has disbanded," the group wrote. "The Patreon has been switched into a mode where it will no longer charge the monthly fee.

"I will begin to process refunds to all patrons in the coming weeks. Once all refunds are processed the Patreon page will also be removed."

Punknews has reported that representatives of the band issued a "no comment" response when they were pressed for information regarding the breakup.

So far, the band haven't shared any additional details, but the shocking split comes just a day after an unnamed "singer of a political punk band" was accused of sexual assault on an episode of Enough, a podcast about sexual misconduct in the music business.

Fans on Reddit have connected the dots between the alleged perpetrator and Justin Geever, a.k.a. Justin Sane, Anti-Flag's founding singer-guitarist who had fronted the band since their formation in 1988.

Throughout their 30-plus year career, Anti-Flag released 13 albums and earned a reputation for their left-wing politics and long history of activism. They also founded and ran the Pittsburgh-based indie label A-F Records, where they released music by their own band and other groups from throughout the punk scene.
