Bane frontman Aaron Bedard has been part of the hardcore scene for longer than many current hardcore musicians have been alive. He's seen countless bands come and go over the decades, but he's never grown tired of checking out new acts. Far from it.

While many of Bedard's middle-age peers have resigned themselves to rehashing the good ol' days of whatever era they came up in, Bedard has his finger on the pulse of hardcore's current boom period.

During a recent conversation with Revolver, we asked Bedard to pick three up-and-coming bands who've most resonated with his ears. From "no bullshit" NYHC to "sing-these-songs-like-your-life-depends-on-it" metallic hardcore, see his great picks below.

Restraining Order

I love that band. I love their work ethic. They're not a band that's just trying to fly around and hit the fests and then move on. They're out there grinding and they're fucking playing Boise, Idaho, on a Wednesday if they got to.

That seems to be a sort of dying attitude of being in a hardcore band. You don't have to do that anymore and you can survive just fine to play the coasts and to get flown in and out of the big festivals and that's fine.

I get some bands may have to do it that way, but I have a lot of respect for the Gel's and Restraining Order's of the world that fucking get in a van and do it. I like them a lot, but obviously I like them musically. I know some of those guys, I believe that they really mean it, so that means a lot to me.

Combust

I just love Combust, man. They get me so psyched. I love that New York City hardcore sound. I just think they nail that classic sound in a way that most bands sort of don't quite do, as well.

There's just no bullshit to that band at all. Not a bunch of fucking egos or a bunch of big attitudes. Just humble kids who truly seem to love this shit and I fuck with them. I like them a lot.

Adrienne

Adrienne are young kids who have blown me away the few times I've caught them live. They're so cool. They look and sound like you're stepping out of a time machine and have landed right in the middle of the '96-'97 Massachusetts hardcore scene.

Just pure, intense, metallic, sing-these-songs-like-your-life-depends-on-it type stuff.
