You ever wondered what it would be like if Full of Hell got... funky? Well, the Maryland noisemakers have offered somewhat of answer to that big what-if with the premiere of Coagulated Bliss' title track. Rest assured — it also rages.
The third preview from Full of Hell's next album is pretty wicked on the whole, coming lined with lacerating guitar riffs and vocalist Dylan Walker's distorted, hound-from-hell howl. But it's Dave Bland who gives the song an almost subversive twitchiness in the verses, working a Clyde Stubblefield/"Funky Drummer" sublimity to his kick-and-snare work — just dialed up to a brutal 11, in terms of intensity.
As for the accompanying music video, it's a lo-fi, vintage handi-cam assault of teenagers slammin' tall cans in gas station parking lots, folks staring off into the sunset while holding their submachines, and people laying fresh flowers on a grave. A dead bird shows up a couple times, too.
Tying it all together, Walker explained in a statement that the track is "a lyrical summation of the record as a whole. Seeking the unattainable. Drowning in it."
As previously announced, Coagulated Bliss is due out April 26th via Closed Casket Activities and is available for pre-order here.
