Hear GOUGE AWAY's new noise-rock rager "Stuck in a Dream"

Off upcoming third album 'Deep Sage'

Last May, Gouge Away — the grungy hardcore band helmed by vocalist and former Nothing bassist Christina Michelle — offered up their first new song in three years, the Pixies-esque "Idealized." Now, the group have announced their long-awaited third album, Deep Sage, and premiered a second single, "Stuck in a Dream."

The song, which leans more into the Gouge Away's noise-rock roots, arrived today along with an energetic performance music video directed by Caleb Gowett. Watch and listen above.

Deep Sage was recorded completely analog and almost entirely live at Atomic Garden East with producer-engineer Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Loma Prieta, Whirr) in March 2023.

Michelle commented: "Recording live and to tape creates an intense environment where we have no choice but to feed off each other's energy. We have to get it right in one take and if anyone messes up we all have to start over, so no one wants to be that guy. It adds an element of risk and excitement. We don't want to sound beautifully polished or perfect anyway. We want to sound like the five of us being human, and no one is better than Jack Shirley when it comes to capturing what it feels like in the room."

Deep Sage will be released on digital and physical formats on March 15th on Deathwish Inc. It's available for pre-order now.
