See Anselmo Dedicate Down's "Lifer" to Pantera's Dimebag Darrel and Vinnie Paul

Singer paid tribute to late bandmates during Blue Ridge Rock Festival set

On Friday night (September 9th) NOLA sludge supergroup Down played the Blue Ridge Rock Festival in Virginia, and frontman Philip Anselmo took the opportunity to pay tribute to his late Pantera bandmates, the group's founding brothers Dimebag Abbott and Vinnie Paul.

Introducing Down classic "Lifer," the singer dedicated the performance to the fallen guitarist and drummer. "This next song goes out to Dimebag and Vince," Anselmo said to the crowd. "I want you all to throw down. If you know these motherfucking lyrics, sing this shit with me. This is one called 'Lifer.'" You can watch the tribute at the 4:35 mark in the video above.

Of course, unless you've been living under a rock, you should know that Pantera is set to re-form in December to play shows. Now featuring core members Anselmo and Rex Brown plus Black Label Society's Zakk Wylde and Anthrax's Charlie Benante, the band are scheduled to play four shows so far: Mexico's Hell and Heaven Open Air fest, and Knotfest's three South American iterations, in Brazil, Chile and Colombia.
