See DAVE GROHL, SCOTT IAN, and CHARLIE BENANTE cover BAD BRAINS' "The Regulator"

From their Record Store Day tribute 7-inch

Dave Grohl's music career started in D.C. where the Bad Brains formed, and Anthrax members Scott Ian and Charlie Benante came up in New York City, where the Bad Brains eventually relocated. So it makes perfect sense that the trio would link up as G.B.I. (Grohl, Benante and Ian — get it?) for a Bad Brains tribute release for Record Store Day.

The RSD-exclusive 7-inch features a cover of the Brains' classic ripper "The Regulator," and while RSD shoppers who scooped it up over the weekend got first dibs on hearing it, the trio have now dropped the official recording online — along with an in-studio video.

The cover was recorded at Grohl's Studio 606 in just two live takes, and you can see their breathless session go down in the video above via YouTube.

Does it sound as great as the Bad Brains version? No, and it couldn't possibly. But it sounds pretty damn close! Check it out.
