Watch Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds' Powerful "Mercy Seat" Live Performance

Plus experimental alternative band shares details about upcoming 'Distant Sky' live EP and North American tour

Long known for his awe-inducing live act with longtime band the Bad Seeds, post-punk/alt-rock/goth icon Nick Cave has released footage from a Copenhagen performance of "Mercy Seat," taken from their upcoming live EP Distant Sky – Nick Cave & the Bad See Live in Copenhagen. The October 2017 show at Copenhagen's Royal Arena was recorded in its entirety and shown in theaters worldwide for one night only, on April 12th, 2018.

"Mercy Seat," from the band's 1988 album Tender Prey, is a staple of the Bad Seeds' live set and was even covered by country legend Johnny Cash before his death. The footage shows Cave at his full-on manic goth preacher best, crooning deeply until the song's apex when he reaches into the crowd to touch the hands of rabid fans while the band's multiple instrumentalists reach fever pitch.  Nick Cave is one of the most intense live acts on the planet, and his penchant for zealotry is on full display here.

Fresh off a run of European festival dates, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds will cross over into North America for a short run of arena dates, kicking things off October 21st at The Forum in Los Angeles.
