Glenn Danzig will hit the road beginning in late October for a handful of live concert dates on both the East and West coasts. Joining Danzig on these dates will be bassist Steve Zing (Samhain) and guitarist Todd Youth (Danzig, Murphy's Law); former Misfits axe man Doyle Von Frankenstein and his new band Gorgeous Frankenstein, will support on all dates.

Glenn and Doyle have been in the studio recording Doyle's first solo album, "Gorgeous Frankenstein," which Danzig produced and will release on October 16 on his label, evilive. According to Glenn, he and Doyle recorded "eight blood-curdling tracks" that include "Man or Monster," "Devilgirl," "Reverse of God," and "Made In Hell." The two played all instruments on the album.

Death Metal outfit Deicide have begun work on their ninth studio album at Florida's Morrisound Studios, the follow up to their 2006 album The Stench of Redemption.

With a confirmed title of Till Death Do Us Part', the record promises to be Deicide's most savage and aggressive to date. Drummer Steve Asheim has begun the process by laying down drum tracks on a set of tracks that retain all the high speed intensity of the last album, but throw in a few surprises along the way.

Drummer Steve Asheim has this to say on the process so far:

"The songs will have a very evil and chaotic nature to them and will include the extensive arrangements and riffage that made Stench so great."

Check out the following video for "Homage for Satan," from The Stench of Redemption.

Fans worried about recent stories concerning the demise of the band can rest easy according to Asheim. "There's no mistaking...it's Deicide. It feels like a cross between Stench and Legion, and is definitely the next logical step for Deicide."

Once the music is down, the final stage will be for Glen Benton to contribute his unique vocal approach, with recordings scheduled for completion as early as November. Till Death Us Do Part is expected to be released early 2008.

"We keep pushing what we do," concludes Asheim. "The guitars are even more sinister...the drums even more brutal. Deicide fans may be shocked at how fast this came around, but they're going to eat it up."

Originally a cassette-only release, Canadian black metal group Akitsa's 2002 debut full-length, Goétie, has just received a proper CD reissue by New York City's Hospital Productions. Now, all you lo-fi black metal fiends who missed out on the hard-to-find original, can finally get your fill of Goétie's slashed-throat vocals, bouts of blasted noise and distorted suicidal rage.

Opener "Ouverture de l'Espirit" sets the dark mood nicely. Drummer Néant delivers arrhythmic beats, while multi-instrumentalist O.T. deploys an ambling, clean guitar line that delicately weaves through a billowing curtain of fuzzy guitars as his vocals slowly chant "ahhh."

"Haine et Vengeance" (translated "Hate and Vengeance") boasts some killer jackhammer snare/kick-drum action and jagged guitar assault. This is some traditional gritty black metal topped with Akitsa's powerful, hateful vocals.

But the kicker comes with the surprising, "Les Ruines de la Modernité."

The song trudges along like a beautiful lamentation only to suddenly drop into a pit of scorching and blistering noise. Warning, if you're not careful this bubbling black mass of chaos will fry out your speakers.

Akitsa's Goétie is the sound of a band taking form by forging itself in the fire. At times they veer off the path ("Affront Final" has an actual surfer-punk 'a go-go' beat), but mostly Akitsa are locked into a singular purpose: to slay and hate and distort oneself beyond recognition. And that is where Akitsa shine. Goétie is a beautifully blackened work of overdriven madness. Get a copy. Rip it open. Gorge yourself. – Ian Caskey
