Former ATREYU singer Alex Varkatzas' new band DEAD ICARUS: Hear heavy first song

Fans of old-school Atreyu will enjoy

In 2020, founding Atreyu frontman Alex Varkatzas left the band after recording seven albums with the California metalcore unit. Today, he launches his next venture.

Varkatzas has announced that he's now helming a new band called Dead Icarus, and he's introducing the project with a ripping lead single called "Sellout" that fans of old-school Atreyu will definitely enjoy.

It's heavy, thrashy, screamy, and triumphantly melodic. Listen above via YouTube.

"This is the most honest, painful, angry, and optimistic music I have ever created," Varkatzas said of Dead Icarus in a press release. "This is my road to redemption and the truth."

So far there's no word on an album or EP, but Dead Icarus are signed to MNRK Heavy, so we can expect more music down the line.
