Hear BETTER LOVERS' raucous new song "The Flowering"

Supergroup features former members of Dillinger Escape Plan and Every Time I Die

Better Lovers are back with their first new song of 2024.

Today, the hardcore supergroup — featuring ex-Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist Greg Puciato, former Every Time I Die members Jordan Buckley, Clayton "Goose" Holyoak and Stephen Micciche, and Fit for an Autopsy guitarist (and noted producer) Will Putney — offered up "The Flowering," a rollicking three minutes that encapsulates the band's already patented mix of mathcore spasms and Southern-rock swagger.

If the tune rings familiar, it's probably because you've heard it at a Better Lovers show: The guys have been playing it live from the jump, but only finally got around to releasing a studio-recorded version.

That version arrived accompanied by a fun, campy music video, directed by Anthony Altamura, that seems to nod to the horror-comedy classic Little Shop of Horrors as a monster plant invades the set and consumes the band. Watch and listen above.

"'The Flowering' is a song we've been playing live since day one," Puciato commented. "It came from the same batch as the God Made Me an Animal EP, so it's nice to finally have it recorded and out there. It's a perfect example of how Jordan, Mitch, Goose and Will playing together sounds like an absolute freight train. Being able to play this live so many times before recording it really amplified that even more, really deepened the groove of it, the music swings so fucking hard. Not to mention the video is one of my favorite videos I've ever been a part of.

"The title and lyrics are an obvious metaphor for realizing that we are all more than what we're conditioned to believe, and acknowledging the collective 'waking up' moment that we all seem to be going through right now."

Better Lovers have been busy working on their debut album, which is expected later this year. They also have a slew of tour dates ahead of them — check out their full itinerary below. Tickets for all shows are on-sale with ticketing links available via Godmademeananimal.com.
