Winston McCall guests on upcoming 'Mirror's Edge' EP

When we last checked in with Northlane singer Marcus Bridge at the end of 2023, he teased that the Australian djent giants had some more new music on the horizon in 2024, following their one-off November single "Dante."

He wasn't pulling our leg. Today (January 23rd), Northlane have announced a brand new EP called Mirror's Edge, marking their first non-single release since 2022's Obsidian album.

The six-track project is coming later this spring, but today, they're previewing it with a hulking new song that boasts a killer guest spot from fellow Aussie headbanger and Parkway Drive frontman, Winston McCall.

Titled "Miasma," the cut contains the rumbling djent riffage, pummeling grooves and ethereal clean vocals that Northlane fans know and love. But McCall's iconic holler adds another layer of epicness to their concussive sound.

"Parkway Drive were always our number one inspiration as a band," Northlane guitarist Josh Smith said in a press relese. "When we first started, their DVD created a roadmap to success, which we did our best to follow.

"At a time where every band was ripping their sound off, we chose to take our own path but instead emulate their work ethic, and for us it paid dividends. Over time, that respect has flowed both ways.

"With this track being so heavy, we couldn't think of a more perfect guest than Winston. He flew down from Byron just after we toured together in North America and we tracked his parts in Jon's home studio. His brute voice just tore the track to pieces and we were stunned with the result."

Produced by Better Lovers/Fit for an Autopsy guitarist Will Putney, Mirror's Edge is out April 12th, and the project also features guest spots from Karnivool singer Ian Kenny and former Northlane bassist Brendon Padjasek.
